Use of video games and the internet can expand your imagination, scientists from the American Academy of Pediatrics have found.

The research found that use of the digital products help build children’s cognitive skills that used to be developed from playing outside.

The scientists revisited their work from 23 years ago, to find out whether having less time for unstructured play affected the influence it can give to cognition and emotional development.

Published in the Creativity Research Journal, the research found that studies conducted on children aged six to 10 showed children’s use of imagination in play and their overall comfort and engagement with play activities had increased over time.
