Carlsberg may be an official sponsor of Euro 2012 but Stella Artois will be the beer brand of choice for UK football fans during this summer's tournament, according to new research.

TolunaQuick surveyed 1500 UK men about what they would be drinking during the Euros and Belgian beer Stella came out on top with 14.7 percent of the vote.

Despite a massive Euro 2012 sponsorship deal, Carlsberg could only manage fifth place in the poll behind Carling in second, Fosters in third and Budweiser in fourth.

Heineken proved significantly more popular with the 18-34 demographic (7.17 per cent) than with older age groups while John Smiths was found to be more popular with the 55+ age group (10 per cent).

One in five men from the Midlands and Wales are ardent Carling drinkers, according to the findings.
