Origin Creative has completed its first project since being appointed to the BBC’s design roster, a brand and design concept for Blue Peter’s Big Olympic Tour.

Appearing on set, on screen and across the BBC Learning’s events and resources this branding will accompany a series of live outside broadcasts staged each Saturday by the venerable children’s show as the torch makes its UK relay.

This incorporates the existing Blue Peter branding within a ‘dynamic and colourful design which captures the essence of the tour’.

Mark Bottomley, Origin's Managing Director, says, "The Blue Peter Big Olympic Tour brings together two iconic brands, and it is an enormous responsibility to be given the challenge of developing this identity. Our creativity has been challenged to work within some very strict parameters, but at the same time we have worked with a very supportive client to create something really strong that will appeal to the Blue Peter audience.”

Karen Gregory, executive producer of Blue Peter's Big Olympic Tour, said "We needed an identity which was energetic, bold and full of movement. It had to appeal to children, feel connected to the Olympics branding and fit well with the Blue Peter brand. We wanted to build excitement and have it work both on and off screen. Quite a tall order!"
