Thinkbox has announced that Tess Alps, its chief executive, is to become its executive chair from the start of July, with Julia Jordan, executive director of business and operations at UKTV to become chair of the Thinkbox board.

Alps will work for three days a week and will continue to play an important role in overseeing the strategy, research and communications outputs for the organisation.

She said: “I’m looking forward to spending more time with my TV. My planner is so full that going to three days a week is the only option. Once that’s cleared, I will have the opportunity to do a couple of other things. I shall never stop championing TV advertising’s effectiveness and pressing for it to get the recognition and investment it deserves, or being fascinated by its expansion through new technologies.

“The Thinkbox team is well established, full of talent, and flourishing under the terrific leadership of Lindsey Clay and the directors, and with the support of a brilliant board, now chaired by Julia. It is the perfect time for me to take a step back.”

Jordan, who will hold her role as chair for a year before it passes to another Thinkbox shareholder director, said: “Tess has done an amazing job as Thinkbox’s Chief Executive and she will do an equally amazing job as Executive Chair. Thinkbox is an outstanding group of individuals, relentless in their mission to demonstrate that television is the most effective advertising medium of the past, present and future. It is a great privilege to play a role with the Thinkbox team and my colleagues on the Board.”
