NHS Harrow has unveiled a four week outdoor campaign to promote the need for cervical screenings to young women, designed by the National Cancer Screening Office and planned by Out of Home International.

The campaign will run for four weeks in the Borough of Harrow and the surrounding areas in northwest London and features washroom panels in ladies bathrooms, Escalator panels at Harrow-on-the-Hill Tube Station, 4 sheets and 6 sheets around the area, and bus stop advertising.

Sarah Galbraith - public health specialist (screening) at NHS Brent & Harrow, said: "NHS Brent & Harrow are committed to providing up to date information on all national screening programmes and to keep this information in the public domain.

“There is a particularly lower uptake for cervical screening amongst the younger age group women (25-30) so I am hoping this cohort in particular see the advertising around and take up the opportunity.

“We hope that by this [campaign] we are able to educate our populations on the benefits of screening, what they can and may expect from each screening programme and ultimately to assist them in making the choice to be screened, and continue being screened when the time is right for them."
