BBC signs new Football League highlights deal

The BBC has signed a new deal to continue broadcasting The Football League Show for a further three more seasons.

The new highlights agreement with the Football League also covers the League Cup and the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

The Football League Show will continue in its current hour-long, Saturday night slot on BBC1 and will feature goals and highlights from all three divisions of the npower Football League.

Additionally, BBC Sport will continue to provide midweek highlights of the League Cup and dedicated highlights programmes from Wembley Stadium for the finals of the League Cup and Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

5 Live and 5 Live Sports Extra will continue to have non-exclusive rights to all npower Football League, League Cup and Play-Off matches.

Mark Clemmit will present a round up of all the weekend's Football League results every Monday on 5 Live Sport throughout the season.

Richard Heaselgrave, the Football League's chief commercial officer, said: "In a short period of time The Football League Show has become an institution amongst supporters of our 72 clubs, more than a million of whom tune in every week for the comprehensive coverage the show delivers. We are therefore delighted that it will be continuing for a further three seasons."

The Football League Show will continue to be produced for BBC Sport by IMG.
