Olympic diver Tom Daley has unveiled a diving game app, created by the Chelsea Apps Factory.
Sponsored by Adidas, the app lets players use touchscreen gestures to roll, twist and tuck their way into creating the perfect dive and nudge their way up the scoreboard.
Players will be able to watch a virtual Daley show them how each dive should be done before attempting it themselves, and will have their best scores featured on the global leader board, as well as being able to share their in-game achievements with friends via Twitter and Facebook.
Mike Anderson, CEO of Chelsea Apps Factory, said: “With the Olympics around the corner, interest in the athletes is really starting to build - especially so in Tom’s case because he’s already got so many fans and is tipped to be one of the biggest stars of London 2012. That makes this the perfect time to release this app – not least because so many of us are now carrying smartphones capable of rendering the kind of immersive 3D graphics and gameplay we’ve built into Tom Daley Dive. At Chelsea Apps Factory we pride ourselves on developing apps that are unique and exciting, taking advantage of what the technology can do to really engage with the end user – and Tom Daley Dive does just that.”
Tom Daley said “Apps are one of the best things about having a phone, and I jumped at the chance to create my own. There are no good diving games out there and I love how this game has turned out: it looks great and feels very realistic – although I’m a bit nervous my own score won’t make the online leader-board! If the game helps raise awareness of diving and gets people excited about the Olympics this year, I’ll be really pleased.”
