Facebook is to broaden its multimedia offer to social networkers by launching a full movie streaming service the like of which has previously been reserved to dedicated sites such as LoveFilm and Netflix.

The first film to debut on the service is ‘Casablanca’, widely considered to be the best film of all time, which has been made available for free by Warner Bros in honour of its 70th anniversary.

It comes as Facebook prepares to launch in one of the most eagerly anticipated flotations in history today, with a valuation of $104bn.
