Students from the Leeds College of Art have won placements in the creative department at Gratterpalm for the campaign they created for Tangerine Confectionery.

The students were asked to develop a campaign to support the launch of ‘Alley Cats and Hound Dogs’, Tangerine Confectionery’s new range of animal-shaped sweets.

The 40 undergraduates who took part in the competition were divided into teams, each comprising two first year students and two final year students, with the winning team and the first year students who achieved second and third place being awarded the two week placements.

Following a pitch to a senior Gratterpalm team - including creative directors Rick Ward and Pete Camponi, marketing manager Rachael Calvert, and Gratterpalm’s Tangerine Confectionery account team - Charlotte Jeffers, Isabella Sorley, Helen Richmann and Jake Bostock were named the winners.

David Anderson, creative advertising course leader at Leeds College of Art, said: “For the students, putting theory into practice is an important part of the learning process. To be offered the chance to work with top advertising professionals at such a successful agency is an excellent opportunity for them at the start of their careers, and I’d like to thank everyone at Gratterpalm, particularly Pete and Rick, for their ongoing support. I hope to continue our collaboration in the future and for this to become an annual event.”
