Microsoft has announced that its latest revamp of the Bing search platform will incorporate social media results in a special grey sidebar.

Advice from the likes of Facebook, Google+, Twitter, Foursquare, Quora and Linkedin will offered to connect searchers with friends and enthusiasts who can give personalised help and advice to oil the decision making process.

In a blog post Microsoft explained: “Bing suggests friends on Facebook who might know about the topic - based on what they 'like', their Facebook profile information, or photos they have shared so you can easily ask them about relevant experiences and opinions.

"For example, if you're searching for diving spots in Costa Rica... you may discover that one of your friends knows a great spot, based on photos from their last trip."

The service is due to roll out in the US over the coming days, where Bing has a 15% market share, although no date has been given for a UK launch.
