PR consultancy Fishburn Hedges has been appointed by licensing firm PPL to raise awareness of the value of licensing music in the workplace.

PPL licenses recorded music for broadcast in public places, distributing the fees to some 50,000 performers and 6,500 rights holders.

A team led by Guy Corbet and supported by Victoria Sykes and Natasha Jones will build on the existing ‘MusicWorks’ campaign which highlights both the benefits of music and the need to be correctly licensed.

Guy Corbet, Director at Fishburn Hedges said: “Whilst many businesses rely on music to attract customers, or keep their staff motivated, many are still unaware of the legal requirement to be licensed if playing music in public. Through this campaign we hope to educate business owners about the need for a PPL licence and the significant benefits playing music can bring to the workplace.

Jonathan Morrish, Director of PR and Corporate Communications at PPL said: “We appointed Fishburn Hedges due to their understanding of how our company operates and the changing landscape of the wider music and business industries. Our MusicWorks campaign has had good success to date and we feel that Fishburn Hedges have the expertise and insight into reaching larger audiences which will play a vital role in fulfilling long-term goals for our business”.
