Facebook is to go up against Apple with the launch of its own mobile app store.

Set to go live internationally in the following weeks, the App Centre will offer Android app downloads where developers can upload their creations and be charged a fee from sales.

A blog by Facebook developer Aaron Brady announced the creation of the centre alongside development guidelines.

“Many developers have been successful with in-app purchases, but to support more types of apps on Facebook.com, we will give developers the option to offer paid apps. This is a simple-to-implement payment feature that lets people pay a flat fee to use an app on Facebook.com,” he explained.
