HSBC has appointed Hill+Knowlton Strategies to handle media relations for the company’s sponsorship of the Cutty Sark.

The sponsorship marks the completion of the Cutty Sark Trust’s six year restoration of the ship, due to open to the public this Thursday.

Giles Morgan, HSBC group head of sponsorship and events, said: “HSBC was founded in Asia to finance trade with the West five years before the Cutty Sark first set sail in 1870. We still see trade as the biggest driver of economic and business growth today, which our partnership with the Cutty Sark Trust reflects. H+K Strategies are a trusted communications partner of the bank, and we are impressed by their approach to bringing the partnership to life.”

Ben Curson, managing director of Hill+Knowlton’s financial + professional services team, added: “We’re delighted to be working with HSBC on such an exciting project. The win is testament to both our strong track record in delivering successful campaigns for the business and Hill+Knowlton’s ability to combine our corporate communications expertise with our experience of building and executing world class sponsorship programmes.”
