D&AD, the organisation designed to inform, educate and inspire, those who work in and around the creative industries, has unveiled this year’s crop of winners in its annual industry awards scheme.

Split into two categories the awards celebrate both professionals, who have demonstrated creative excellence in design and advertising and the best student work.

For this the 50th anniversary of the initiative, the format has been re-jigged with yellow pencils being judged and announced in the same week.

Amongst the lucky recipients of a yellow pencil Blooomberg Businessweek for their work on Steve Jobs 1955-2011 in the magazine & newspaper design category.

In this achievement they were joined by Mirada for 3 Dreams of Black in the digital design category, LOWE/SSP3 for Operation Christmas in outdoor advertising and Ogilvy Johannesburg for MK is in TV & cinema communications.

Also picking up a Yellow pencil was Love in the packaging category for its work with Diageo's Johnny Walker and 1910 special edition bottled. In same category, a pencil also went to Iris Nation for The Heineken STR bottle.

Black pencils will be handed out at a ceremony later in the year.
