Publisher Hodder & Stoughton, owned by the Hachette Group, has appointed Total Media to handle its media planning and buying both offline and online.

This means that Total Media now handles the media needs of all the Hachette Group, including Headline Publishing Group, Orion Publishing Group, Little, Brown Book Group and Hachette Children’s Books. The groups have a combined media spend of £3m.

Guy Sellers, CEO at Total Media, said: “The book market is experiencing a lot of change and the time to embrace new opportunities is now. Creative and disruptive media solutions, supported by data, are essential to give book titles the cut-through they need at launch. We are delighted that Hodder & Stoughton has chosen to appoint us to deliver innovation and growth in such transitional times.”

Work with Hodder & Stoughton will start immediately, with the company’s creative director, Auriol Bishop, saying: “With Total Media as our partners we are not only in safe hands but with a company that can help us break boundaries, particularly in exploring new ways to get closer to our readers and using every opportunity in the digital age to find new audiences for our books.”

This announcement follows Total Media winning the £1.5m Just Go! Holidays account two weeks ago.
