Martin Smith, CEO of Involve Marketing Partnership has moved to dispel speculation that his group, which employs 120 people, has ceased trading.

However, he has confirmed that Involve Marketing Agency, which was formerly called JDA, and employed 17 individuals, did in fact close its doors this morning.

Smith told The Drum, “I don’t think it will come as any surprise to anybody that we have had to cease trading at Involve Marketing. We have also had to deal with separate issues at Whitewater Creative, but the rest of the group is in robust health.”

Smith, initially agreed to buy JDA in 2007. The agency, launched by Judith Donavan became one of Yorkshire’s leading marketing agencies under the stewardship of Carl Hopkins – who had originally joined the business as a junior in the studio, before working his way up and staging a MBO.

The group, which was guided by directors Martin Smith and Joseph Widdup, was made up of 12 agencies that include Tardis Communications, Active Life, Our Lasting Tribute and PushButton Direct Mail.

The agency lists clients such as Lloyds Banking Group, Lakeland, Cartridge World and Age UK.

The company rebranded from Direct Marketing Group to Involve in July 2011.
