Glasgow design agency Good is to create a new brand identity for Tamdhu whisky, which is being relaunched in 2013 under new ownership.

The Tamdhu Distillery, on Speyside, dates back to 1897 but was mothballed in 2010. It is now being given a new lease of life after being acquired by Ian Macleod Distillers.

The company hired Good to create a new look that will "appeal to a contemporary, affluent global consumer".

Good director Keith Forbes said: "The chance to work on a brand of Tamdhu’s quality and provenance, but with pretty much a clean slate, doesn’t happen very often.

“It’s a huge responsibility but we are relishing the challenge and are looking forward to the journey of building, what we know will be an outstanding premium global brand.”

The Good team was chosen following its positioning and packaging work for Glengoyne, Ian Macleod's other premium malt distillery.

The new branding will be unveiled later this year.
