So that's it, then. The biggest lottery jackpot in history - $640 million - has been split three three ways.

Three winners in the BIG money

The Friday night Mega Millions draw which sparked near hysteria across America is being paid out to three ticket holders holding the magic numbers 2, 4, 23, 38, 46 and 23 again as the "mega ball".

The names of those who will get $213m each from the prize fund are not yet known. But one winner from Maryland bought just ONE dollar ticket and it was a lucky dip - he/she let the machine pick the numbers. So much for the folk who bought hundreds of tickets!

Another winner bought the ticket in Red Bud, Illinois, pop 3,600, whose town sign calls it the "blossom city". The third winner lives in north-east Kansas.

Retailers who sold winning tickets will get $1m each. People who picked five of the winning numbers will get six-figure payouts: 29 in California alone.
