Budget supermarket chain Aldi is urging Scots to ‘Give it Aldi’ from today, a play on the Scots ‘give it laldy’ saying, as it launches a £2m campaign north of the border today.

Coinciding with a series of in-store price cuts the campaign is touting a number of price promises; including the best value milk and budget Scottish sirloin at just £2.99 for 250g.

Richard Holloway, Aldi’s Managing Director, said: “We know that Aldi’s UK adverts are well-loved, but we wanted to create something special, just for Scottish customers.

“We’ve made a commitment to local sourcing – more than 25% of our product range is now Scottish, and that figure is set to grow. There are over 200 Scottish products to choose from at our stores, so it’s important that our advertising in Scotland stands out.

“We want the nation to “Give it Aldi” after seeing these ads and are looking forward to introducing viewers to more characters in the Give it Aldi story over coming months.”

Masterminded by the Leith Agency the ads will occupy prominent slots on stv, Channel 4 and Channel 5.
