The world’s longest running cartoon, the Simpson’s, is in line for an interactive makeover after Electronic Arts announced that they would be turning the brand into a ‘social game’ in similar vein to Farmville.

The Simpsons: Tapped Out, allows gamers to create their own personalised version of Springfield after Homer accidentally blows up the town during an incident at Springfield’s famous nuclear power plant.

It allows players to connect via their Facebook account to connect with other players allowing them to visit the towns of other players.

To lend authenticity to this environment EA have teamed up with Fox Digital Entertainment to see cast members provide character voices and various sly references to the show; including irradiated donuts and Cletus’s ‘Tomacco’ plants.
