High street baker Greggs has launched its first app for iPhones and Android devices.
The free app, developed by digital agency Steel, allows customers to access the Greggs product menu and nutritional information.
It also details meal deals and discounts and allows hungry users to find their nearest store by GPS.
Graeme Nash, head of customer and marketing at Greggs, said: "We want our customers to find shopping with Greggs as convenient as possible and our new app is a really effective way of helping us to do that. We hope our customers like it."

Another example of a company exec with a smart phone thinking wouldn't it be cool if we had an app, but not thinking how completely pointless it is for their business.

@calum Ugh you're such a spoil sport - this is big news!

If the app were to tell you when their sausage rolls are hot, for example, it might be useful. Other than that, Calum is entirely right.

@andrewburnett I know, don't take it too seriously this is an app for Greggs.

So what can be achieved in the app which you can't do on a website?

Decided to take it for a test run. It is only set up for 3.5" screens so the bottom half of my phone is blank.
But I have came up with a use for it tho, how many Greggs stores are within a mile of your current location? currently I have at least 15 within the mile. (the list seems to be limited to the closest 15)

never exactly difficult to find a Greggs, look left can you see one within 100 yards, no? well look right and there it is...
