Rangers are testing the old adage ‘there’s no such thing as bad publicity’ to breaking point with nearly 183 articles published last week recounting the historic clubs demise – according to the Media Standards Trust charity.

The mass ink spillage was sparked by newspaper reports and BBC online coverage of Rangers ignominious collapse into administration, beaten only by stories covering Valentines day (313) and the death of Whitney Houston (254).

By contrast David Cameron’s foray north to discuss First Minister Alex Salmond’s independence referendum moves were reported in just 104 articles.
