Ericsson has announced that it is to re-launch its Business Unit Support Solutions divisions as part of its new strategy to strengthen its multimedia business.

This will focus on building upon the firms existing installed base whilst managing the firms recent acquisition of Telcordia.

Ericsson believes that within five years 90% of its network traffic will be video content, a belief which will see the provider commit to enable operators to monetise such content through multi-screen TV services.

This approach will be reflected in the m-commerce market where Ericsson will build upon its existing 1.6bn subscribers by offering pre-paid customers m-wallet accounts.

Per Borgklint, Head of Ericsson's Business Unit Support Solutions, said: “We believe our M-Commerce strategy will equip our partners - operators, financial institutions, online entertainment companies or merchants - to optimize all the opportunities this predicted market growth will offer with their consumers."
