The Department of Health (DoH) is today launching its national roadshow to help educate older consumers about the early symptoms of bowel cancer.

The DoH had appointed brand experience agency BEcause to help as part of the roadshow, which will include activity over several weeks at shopping centres and garden centres across multiple UK regions.

The roadshow is part of the ‘be clear on cancer’ campaign, which also includes press, radio, TV, social media and PR.

BEcause’s mobile “Be Clear on Cancer” stand will be staffed by trained brand ambassadors and a nurse who will be on hand to talk through bowel cancer symptoms.

Sharon Richey, CEO of BEcause, said: “This is a really important cause for us with several of the team at BEcause having close friends or family who have fought cancer. Bowel cancer is the second largest cancer killer but people don’t talk about it because they feel it’s embarrassing.

“This campaign will set out to make people more aware of the symptoms and encourage people to go to their GP. Ultimately it’s about saving lives.”
