Guardian News & Media hires LOVEFiLM's chief technology officer Mike Blakemore

Guardian News & Media has appointed LOVEFiLM’s chief technology officer Mike Blakemore as its director of engineering.

Blakemore will be tasked with overseeing the development of the Guardian’s interactive and QA teams, working within the recently formed digital development team.

He will take up the role in May, reporting to Tanya Cordrey, director of digital development.

Tanya Cordrey said: “Mike is a fantastic hire for the Guardian, and will bring with him a wealth of skills and experience that are completely in line with the Guardian’s forward-thinking approach towards digital innovation. Heading up our world-class engineering team, Mike’s role will accelerate our next generation of multi-platform digital plans, and we can’t wait to have him on board."
