Bauer Media has begun a training and development scheme for staff with the launch of Bauer Radio Academy.

The scheme will act as an umbrella brand for training, development, recruitment and retention of Bauer Radio staff, with the creation of a commercial trainer role currently being recruited.

The new position will be offered a flexible national remit and location and will report to Martin Ball, managing director of Wave 105 on the south coast.

The academy will also aim to recruit fresh talent through graduate trainee roles, with the first trainees set to undertake a seven-week programme.

Dee Ford, group managing director of Bauer Radio, said: “We want Bauer to become the industry’s ‘best-in-class’ for staff training and development, so the launch of the Radio Academy is a great step in proving our long-term commitment to investing in people. With the new commercial trainer and graduate trainee positions on board, we’re confident that the higher quality output and deliverables from our local sales teams to our clients will positively impact on our revenue and share. With initiatives like the Radio Academy, Bauer is quickly carving out a reputation as a destination employer in the media industry.”
