Glasgow’s economy benefited to the tune of £20.15m over the course of 2011 from a string of big budget film, TV and advertising productions – according to the Glasgow Film Office.

Blockbuster films such as action-fest World War Z and a reimagination of the novels Cloud Atlas and Under the Skin were amongst the productions to raise the profile of the city - bringing a host of Hollywood stars such as Brad Pitt, Halle Berry and Scarlett Johansson in their wake.

Councillor Gordon Matheson, Leader of Glasgow City Council, said: "Alongside the great deal of excitement and enjoyment that films such as World War Z and Cloud Atlas brought was a tremendous economic boost for the city.”
