Brightsolid, the Dundee based tech firm, has announced that it is on the cusp of announcing closer links between its range of family history websites and the social network Friends Reunited – which it purchased from ITV for £25m.

Reports in the Scotsman suggest that the company will make a formal announcement during the second quarter.

Brightsolid’s acquisition of Friends Reunited, which ITV bought from its founders for £175m in 2005, has increased the digital firm’s turnover to £28.4m in the year to March 31, 2011, from £16.2m a year earlier.

This translated to a pre-tax profit of £672k versus a loss of £322k in the previous year.

Chris van der Kuyl, Brightsolid’s chief exec said: “It’s been a great year and we’ve invested time and effort integrating Friends Reunited into the business.”
