Greetings card company TheDogsDoodahs.com is to launch a new TV ad as it looks to rival the likes of Funky Pigeon and Moonpig.

The Valentine's-themed ad, which breaks on 30 January, was created by greetings card copywriter Lee Henman and an in-house creative team working with Space City Productions.

Henman said: "The best way to demonstrate the difference between our cards and those of the competitors is to let the joke come to life on screen. We couldn’t use a standard format of actors and cheesy music to do this adequately so we rely on the products themselves. As we’ve been designing cards for longer than we care to remember, we know how to turn on the giggles and it comes across in the style of the campaign."

The advert, which will be broadcast in two versions, one before the watershed and one after, also features personalised card headlines such as ‘Bouncy-Boobs’ and ‘Lurve-Bunny’ which are the result of research into unusual nicknames used for loved ones in the UK.
