James Cosmo movie Citadel to premiere at top US film festival

Citadel, an Irish/Scottish film is to have its World Premiere at the prestigious international film and music festival South by Southwest in Austin, Texas.

The festival, renowned for discovering new talent , announced this today with Citadel, a psychological horror movie, chosen in the Midnighters Section in their 2012 programme which runs from March 9th -14th.

Citadel tells how an agoraphobic father teams up with a renegade priest to save his daughter from the clutches of a gang of twisted feral children.

Writer / Director Ciarán Foy said, " Some of the best genre films in the world have come out of SXSW, so to be selected is a real honour."

The film features Aneurin Barnard (We'll Take Manhattan) in the lead role of Tommy, and Scotlandʼs James Cosmo (Braveheart, Troy, The Chronicles of Narnia) in the role of the priest,.

Citade, a Blinder Films and Sigma Films Co-Production, is funded by the Irish Film Board and Creative Scotland .

Robbie Allen, of Creative Scotland said: "We are delighted that Citadel will receive its world premiere at one of North America's leading film festivals. and we are very pleased to be partnering with the Irish Film Board."
