Channel 4 has appointed content design and creation company, Somethin’ Else to create a social media strategy for Skins.

The agency will be working closely with drama producer Company Pictures, building on the strategy it created last year to produce an online narrative with supporting and separate plots that will further develop the characters ahead of the premiere of the sixth series of the drama.

Michelle Feuerlicht, executive producer of digital at Somethin’ Else, said: “We are continuing our great relationship with Company Pictures in bringing series six of Skins to life online. As a content creation company interested in telling stories across platforms, we know how well broadcast and digital can work together to connect with audiences. This project is leading the way in terms of online storytelling, and illustrates the ability of multiplatform entertainment to extend the drama of a TV property while interacting with fans in their social media environments.”

The agency will continue creating character Twitter and Facebook accounts, as well as using other online video and photo platforms where appropriate.

The new direction will see the storytelling spread across multiple digital and social media platforms and will be tied together on the Channel 4 website where users can follow curated content.
