BBC One takes prime position for Thursday night primetime

The latest overnight data has shown bumper audiences for BBC One primetime offerings Earthflight and Great Expectation.

Nature documentary series Earthflight pulled in 5.12 million viewers (20.2%) at 8pm while the finale of Great Expectation's drew an audience of 5.92 million (24%) at 9pm.

The primetime success came after EastEnders extended its soap ratings lead over Coronation Street, with 9.27 million (38.5%) tuning in at 7.30pm. Coronation Street was watched by 8.49 million (32.7%) at 8.30pm.

ITV1’s Paddy McGuinness-hosted review show Paddy's 2011 Show and Telly drew viewing figures of 3.76 million (15.2%) at 9pm

Over on BBC Two Dragons' Den special 'The Hilary Devey Story' at 8pm pulled in 1.5 million (5.9%), QI 2.13 million (8.5%) and Never Mind the Buzzcocks 1.53 million (6.3%).

Elsewhere Channel 4's Living with the Amish was viewed by 992k (3.9%) at 8pm and Dorian Gray by 1.48 million (6.3%), and on Channel 5 1.08 million (4.3%) tuned in for the World's Strongest Man and 1.29 million (5.2%) for The Mentalist.
