Footballer apologises for Twitter comments, before account disappears

A 17-year-old footballer, Michael Fleming, has apologised for making comments about Rangers fans on Twitter.

The Cowdenbeath FC under-19s defender made several tweets describing Rangers fans as "wee manky huns".

He then posted: "I apologise for my comments last night and to anyone who was offended by them, it won't happen again."

His Twitter account - @MeekFleming – has now been closed, but t is unknown if he closed it by choice.

The football club has said that it will be releasing a statement on the incident in due course.
