Sunday Times to celebrate first Christmas publication with free iPad and Android editions
This year, the Sunday Times will be published on Christmas day for the first time, and is celebrating by giving away free iPad and Android editions of the newspaper.
The Christmas day edition will break a tradition which dates back to 1912, when it was decided not to publish in order to give delivery drivers, newsagents and paperboys the day off.
John Witherow, editor of The Sunday Times, said: “We have been publishing The Sunday Times for nearly 190 years, but this is the first time we have produced a newspaper on Christmas Day. This special edition is free – only Scrooge would contemplate charging for a newspaper at Christmas.”
Sponsored by John Lewis, the Christmas edition will include an interactive quiz, featuring video, audio and 'rub and reveal' picture questions as well as instant answers, alongside the regular news and sports.
