Virgin Media has made a deal with the BBC which will allow TiVo users to stream extra coverage of sporting events such as the London 2012 Olympics, Formula One and Wimbledon.

Through the deal, Virgin Media customers who have a TiVo set-top box will be able to access enhanced services such as ‘red button’ content.

Virgin Media is building a BBC sport app to go on the TiVo service, which aims to go live in the first quarter of 2012.

This follows Virgin Media being announced as the sponsor of Britain’s Got Talent on Friday.
