A Facebook commerce app has been created for CD, DVD and Gaming website musicMagpie to allow it to moneytise its social media presence.

The store allows users to earn money from Facebook, where they can scan their item using their webcam or enter the barcodes of the item to gain instant valuations, while postage-paid labels can also be downloaded or courier collection arranged as well.

Also on offer, as an alternative payment method to receiving a cheque, Marks & Spencer e-vouchers are available, as are charity donations.

Eren Ozagir, commercial and marketing director of musicMagpie.co.uk, said: "Social networks are where many people spend most of their time online, and we recognise that if you want to reach more people at more times of the day and night you can’t only be a single destination, but you have to reach out and visit users where they are. We’re really excited to be the first to launch a store-application where users can actually make money on Facebook without having to leave the network or end a conversation. We are working on new social applications all the time and we believe that our Facebook store, like our iPhone app works for consumers because they make it even easier for them to declutter and make a little extra cash.”

An Android version of the musicMagpie smartphone application is currently in production.
