A leaked email from Twitter's sales department to prospective advertisers has revealed for the first time what the micro blogging service is charging brands for each follower they gain on the platform.

This runs between $2.50 and $4 per follower and $0.75 to $2.50 for each click, favourite, retweet or reply.

All advertisers must commit to a campaign of at least three months and a minimum spend of $15,000.

Twitter is currently plugging its promoted products functionality which allows brands to tweet messages to relevant Twitter users who are not followers.

The social media site claims that it is already seeing over “15x the impression volume of promoted tweets targeted in search”.
