Hollywood star Alec Baldwin has quit Twitter in a huff less than 24 hours after being ejected from an American Airlines flight for use of a mobile device during take-off.

The disgruntled star was frog marched off the plane after refusing to switch off his cell phone when requested to to do so by a member of the cabin crew – and 24 hours later he was still in a huff.

Tweeting to his 600,000 folllowers Baldwin wrote; “Let’s play a game called Mass Unfollowing. I want to crash this acct and start again. But, tonight at 10 PM, NY time, unfollow me.”

Far from having the desired effect though even more Baldwin fans rushed to follow the actor as his erratic behaviour continued to make headlines.

Baldwin claimed that he had simply been playing popular Zynga game, Words with Friends, whilst sitting at the gate but writing on their Facebook page American Airlines stated: “The passenger ultimately stood up (with the seat belt light still on for departure) and took his phone into the plane’s lavatory. He slammed the lavatory door so hard, the cockpit crew heard it and became alarmed, even with the cockpit door closed and locked.

“They immediately contacted the cabin crew to check on the situation. The passenger was extremely rude to the crew, calling them inappropriate names and using offensive language.”
