Burrito fans eat your heart out. On Wednesday upmarket Mexican restaurant chain, Benito’s Hat is building the UK’s biggest burrito in Oxford Circus.
The burrito is expected to measure 65 foot when finished, taking the head chef seven hours to build. Mexican food fans able to prove they are a friend of Benito’s Hat on Facebook will get a share of the monster snack.
The burrito-build is the second part of a social meets experiential campaign, orchestrated for the Mexican restaurant by digital agency Unity.
Earlier this month a van decorated in traditional ‘Muertos’ style was driven around central London to mark the popular Mexican celebration, Day of the Dead. Each hour, the two offices achieving most mentions of @Benitoshat on the Twitter hashtag #dayofthedead hashtag won a free lunch delivery.
Ben Fordham, founder of Benito’s Hat said the Day of the Dead delivery stunt earned the restaurant a huge number of followers on Twitter and boosted takings at the Oxford Circus store by 25%.
“We are confident that the significant brand awareness generated by the campaign will lead to it being a fantastic commercial success in the weeks and months to come,” said Fordam. “We can’t wait to do it all over again next year.”
