Olympic gold medalist Jonathan Edwards and advertising boss Rory Sutherland are to speak at the Marketing Society Scotland's annual St Andrew's Day Dinner.

Ahead of the London 2012 Olympics, Edwards will share his experiences of being a champion triple jumper with some of Scotland's most prominent leaders in the marketing community.

Edwards said: "This event provides a great opportunity to highlight the parallels that can be drawn between business and sport. I am looking forward to interacting with the audience, taking questions based on my own experiences in sport and more recently working with Lloyds Banking Group as an Ambassador for their London 2012 partnership."

The evening will continue with the announcement of the winner of the new Ogilvy Award - introduced by the Marketing Society in association with Scottish Government and presented by Fiona Hyslop, the cabinet secretary for culture and external affairs.

The award will recognise, for the first time, a Scot who has shown bold marketing leadership overseas, enhancing Scotland’s international reputation as a great source of talent and innovation.

Rory Sutherland, vice-chair of the Ogilvy Group UK, will speak about the significance of Scotland's international marketing role and the new Ogilvy accolade.

The dinner will be held at The George Hotel in Edinburgh on Thursday 8 December from 6.30pm to 1am. For more information contact bookings@marketing-society.org.uk or call 0208 973 1360.
