A Canadian firefighter has been reunited with his long lost camera, one year after dropping it in the ocean off Vancouver.

The camera had lain undisturbed in its resting place until it was discovered by scuba diver Mark Thompson – who was able to retrieve 50 pictures from the cameras waterlogged SD card and post them on Google+.

The resulting publicity then came to the attention of the cameras owner – who has since been reunited with his waterlogged snapper.

Thompson wrote on the site: “If you know a fire fighter from British Columbia whose team won the Pacific Regional Firefit competition, has a lovely wife and (now) 2 year old daughter – let me know. I would love to get them their vacation photos.”

Taking a dig at Facebook Thompson added: “It received one ‘like’ – that’s it (there’s a reason I left).”

The camera, which has been submerged since August 2010, no longer works.
