Google Chrome set for gaming upgrade

Google Chrome, the search giants upstart web browser5, is to receive a slew of new gaming features – according to the firms developer advocate Paul Kinlan.

Speaking at the Develop Liverpool conference Kinlan said that the browser will be upgraded to support gamepads, webcams and chat features – fueling speculation that the humble web browser could be getting beefed up ahaead of its transformation into a cloud gaming platform.

This would pit it head to head against the likes of OnLive which enables gamers to stream top of the range console titles on HD TVs, PCs and tablets.

The new features are expected to be introduced in the first quarter of 2012.
