Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) has appointed ZenithOptimedia to take on its £50m media planning and buying account.

According to Campaign, the appointment has been made, with the account moving out of MediaCom, although the agency will continue to work on Sponsorship and other elements of its marketing, working with brands such as Direct Line and Churchill.

At the time of writing, it is understood however that MediaCom had yet to be officially informed of the decision although Zenith is understood to have picked up the retail media buying work.

The pitching process also included ZenithOptimedia, Manning Gottlieb OMD and Vizeum.

MediaCom has held the account since 2011.

Updated: A spokesperson for MediaCom has said that both it and Zenith have been informed of the decision but clarified that only the RBS Retail Business would be moving to Zenith – the Insurance, Corporate, GBM and Group Communications will business remain with MediaCom.
