Tesco Christmas advert by Red Brick Road features members of public

Tesco will this evening launch its Christmas advert, which features members of the British public preparing for Christmas.

The 50 second advert created by Red Brick Road, which will be shown for the first time during Coronation Street, includes firemen from Padstow, a swim club from Tenby and a choir from Manchester.
Carolyn Bradley, Tesco’s UK marketing director, said: “We know customers love seeing slices of their everyday lives in adverts. We all have special memories of rehearsing for a carol sing or preparing sprouts with Gran and this ad shows just that.”

The voice over, by much loved actress Julie Walters, shows how Tesco is helping to deliver Christmas this year by “bringing fairy lights to Falmouth” and “brussel sprouts to Birmingham”.

It is the largest production and ad buy ever by Tesco. Filming for the two versions of the advert, which will run over the next five weeks, took eight days.

Bradley added: “We know Christmas is a really important time of year for our customers and this ad helps show how Tesco is working with them to keep Christmas special. Customers have told us that even though this year has been hard for them financially, they still want to enjoy the festive season and we know Tesco can help them do that.
