Yahoo! has announced the introduction of its Search Direct and improved image and video search in the UK.

The Search Direct feature, which is currently in beta, predicts search results as fast as a person types, character by character, and presents those results.

The page includes the top search trends, updated every ten minutes; search previews to provide the ten most likely search results as you type; and direct answers to provide instant answers before you click ‘search’ for areas such as three-day weather forecast, financial stock performance and the top trending stories at Yahoo! News.

The new Yahoo! image search allows users to browse through galleries, easily view full-size images, search images on Facebook – if yahoo is connected with the Facebook account, a ‘Facebook’ option will automatically appear if their search results include matches from their Facebook friends’ name, album name or album descriptions - and filter content. Users will also be able to see the latest and most popular images.

Features for the image search include ‘One-click Hero Shots’ to frame images, continuous image browse, and a flex layout which automatically optimises for users’ screen whether on the desktop or tablet device, giving users the ability to swipe and view slideshows of images.

The Yahoo! video search changes include filters on the left, a cleaner and more simplistic look, and the video search results page featuring videos from across various Yahoo! properties and videos from across the web.
