Carat has appointed ex-Mediacom director Ben Cunningham as head of direct, following an eighteen month search to fill the role.

In the role at the media communications agency, he will spearhead the development of its direct product and proposition business.

Richard Morris, deputy managing director at Carat, said: “The appointment of Ben Cunningham demonstrates our continued investment in direct skills and our belief in their importance to the modern media agency. In Ben we are pleased we have found someone with an outstanding pedigree, equally adept in direct marketing and digital performance media. With his skills and experience, we have no doubt that Ben’s appointment will advance our offering.”

Cunningham replaces Brett McKibbin, who has joined iProspect as chief client and strategy officer.

McKibbin will work closely with recent recruit Mark Fagan, the former chairman and founding member of the IPA’s search group and Golly Slater digital media director, to oversee strategy and delivery to clients across all products and services.

Ben Wood, managing director at iProspect, said: “As the UK’s fastest growing digital marketing performance specialist, we are incredibly excited about the experience Mark and Brett will bring to the team in terms of search leadership, integrated performance, client services and strategy at a hugely exciting time for the business.”
