Waitrose has launched its Christmas operation with a new advert, which broke during the X Factor on Saturday, and a Blippar campaign.

The supermarket’s 90 second TV advert sees Delia Smith and Heston Blumenthal in their ‘school of Christmas magic’, making Christmas pies and cakes.

Rupert Thomas, marketing director for Waitrose, said: “Christmas is full of tradition, rituals and magic. Delia and Heston show us how we can all add that extra special sparkling touch of magic to our Christmas celebrations this year.”

Waitrose has also joined forces with Blippar, allowing viewers to use the app to hover over adverts and see instructions for making Smith’s Christmas cake or watch the advert online.
