An ambitious crowd sourced documentary produced by none other than Ridley Scott has been aired on YouTube for the first time.

The hour and a half long flick has been painstakingly pieced together from over 4,500 hours of video from 192 countries – all of it shot on a single day, July 24, 2010.

Featuring the day to day lives of a diverse group of YouTube users answering a few simple questions the film seeks to illustrate the extraordinary in our ordinary lives by painting a snapshot of what it means to be alive on Earth today.

Over a year after it all began Life in a Day finally brings the footage home to the platform which made it all possible.
