UK broadband speeds disappoint as they rank 25th in the world

A report on international broadband speeds has found the UK to have the 25th fastest connection in the world, with the average speed achieved in the UK of 5Mpbs.

The report by the Akamai broadband report found the UK to be in 11th place in Europe for its speed, with South Korea achieving the fastest in the world at an average of 13Mpbs and Amsterdam the fastest in Europe with 68% of its broadband speed achieving 5Mpbs or higher.

91% of Britain is actually achieving speeds of 2Mpbs or higher, an improvement of last year’s result by 10%.

The UK also came in seventh position for IP address allocations, with a 36% increase to almost 23 million unique addresses.
