US rapper MC Hammer, famous for the 1989 hit “U Can’t Touch This”, has revealed plans to take on Google, Bing and Yahoo with his own rival search engine – Wiredoo.

Revealing the new service at the Web 2.0 conference in San Francisco Hammer claimed his site would be distinguished by a “deeper type of search”.

This focusses on ‘relationship’ based searching with an enquiry for ‘car’, for instance, returning information on models, mileage and insurance quotes.

Hammer noted: “I thought it would be interesting to share one of the things I was working on. It's not an attempt to reinvent search. You can always make things better," said Burrell.

"We were working on what we could do with data to make it better. I'll be careful when I say that - I just saw Sergei (Google’s co-founder) in the back."
